Baking with boys!

When I was a child my absolute favorite thing to do was to help my dad in the kitchen. In my house house my dad was the one who did all the cooking. He was a chef for many years before he started his own business. So when I grew up I found it very strange that every man couldn't cook just like my father did. I thought it was the norm!

Now that I am a wife and mother I make sure that both my daughter and my son have the skills they need to feel confident in the kitchen. There's nothing more rewarding and confidence building than being able to cook for yourself when you are hungry. Just like adults, children also need confidence in the kitchen. And contrary to popular belief, boys need this skill and confidence just as much as girls!

Here is a quick, boy friendly recipe that kids can make that stands the test of time. Slight variations in the measurements shouldn't alter the outcome very much.

Mix the wet and dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then combine. Chill in the fridge for 2 hours before baking. Bake 11-13 minutes at 350 degrees. This recipe makes 12 cookies. Feel free to add mix ins of your choice. I love to add both peanut butter and chocolate chips to my dough. Enjoy! Let us now how your children enjoyed making this recipe!
